Storyboarding

 

Overall story boarding was a fun experience for me. Seeing the beginnings of this movie come together is only getting me more excited to start shooting. The things that I felt were the most challenging were getting everything in for the Mise-en-scene, while also having to draw out these scenes from my head. I have never been the best artist, so most of my drawings reflect the barebones of the scenes that I envisioned. I was going to film this as a narrative the last time I updated; however, I’ve decided that I’m going back to my original idea of a documentary. This switch happened as I was story boarding and drawing out the scenes. The style that I was filming in my head lined up better with a documentary style film. In the article "Filmmaking across the curriculum: a beginner's guide" it states that “Good films are the direct result of good ideas, good planning and good preparation.” I feel like my creativity has flowed much more easily and I have become excited about filming this in a documentary style film. This shift in my mentality is also supported in the article "Storyboard your way to success" when they state that “Storyboarding is flexible. It is comprehensive. And it allows a group to generate a lot of ideas”. Without this story boarding activity, I would not have been able to go through every detail I had in my head, and sort them into the concept that excites my creativity the most.
